3B-Subm Submersible hydrostatic pressure transmitter

3B-Submersible hydrostatic pressure transmitter for level measurement

The plastic 3B-Submersible is a pressure level transmitter designed for continuous level measurement in waste water and in most aggressive media like strong acids and lyes.

The sensing diaphragm is made from ceramic, a material that has excellent chemical and abrasion resistance.

  • Loop-powered submersible level transmitter for continuous measurement of liquids;
  • High chemical compatibility, ‘wetted-parts’  PVDF (Kynar®) housing, FKM (Viton®) seals and a capacitive ceramic (Al2O3, content 96%) diaphragm, without isolation fluid filling;
  • Applicable in most of acids and lyes;
  • A diameter of only Ø 46 mm;
  • No programming;
  • Excellent linearity and accuracy;
  • Perfect for condensate, foam and vapor applications;
  • Range: 0 to 5 m.W.c. (meter water column) ≈ 0 to 0,5 bar makes the 3B- Submersible suitable in multiple applications in all kind of industry.

Tired of climbing into the sewage due to sticky floats or other malfunctioning level devices? Limited and/or confined space issues? Arvind Industries Europe has a solution!

The materials of construction for the submersible pressure transmitters are the highly chemical resistant thermoplastic material PVDF (Kynar®) for the housing/enclosure and FKM (Viton®) for the O-ring between sensing diaphragm and  PVDF housing, as well as cable and housing.

Principle of Operation

Liquid level can be continuous determined using a submersible pressure transducer located at the bottom of a tank or vessel. When the pressure transducer is resting at the bottom of a tank, the pressure is proportional to the height of the liquid directly above it. If the tank is vented to atmosphere, the pressure transducer can also be configured with a vented gauge measurement type, utilizing a vent tube within the cable to correct for barometric pressure changes.

The pressure at the bottom of the tank or body of liquid is related to the height of the liquid. This level pressure is called hydrostatic pressure or head pressure. Typical unit of measure for hydrostatic pressure is meter water column (m.W.c.). One meter of water column (WC) is the approximate equivalent of 0,1 bar at 20°C. The volume of water or shape of the tank or vessel will not affect the hydrostatic head pressure; it is the height that affects the pressure. Whether 1 meter deep in the middle of a large body of water or a small bucket of water the head pressure is the same.

The MC96-Multichannel display, including various other display indicators and the Sensori online Sensor Platform can calculate the liquid volume of a tank by entering the geometry of the tank and the specific gravity of the liquid, e.g. the density of water is 1 ton per cubic meter at 20°C.

As you can see in this example the pressure exerted by a column of water is dependent only upon the height of the water column and is independent of the affected volume.
